Tornado is in the
Asics Championships in Chicago. Read his daily report:
Friday, June 18th:
Hey Tony!
"**** if we didn't almost take second in our pool!!! Got killed by an
Indy Juniors team that was really impressive. Nearly beat a team that
took 6 or 8th in gold here last year and beat a team from metro
Detroit. Ended up third in our pool which puts us as a #1 seed in our
pool tomorrow.
*** it is humid here! and McCormick place is HUGE!!! something like
2 million square feet. 52 courts all in the same room.
Anyway, more tomorrow.

Saturday, June 19th:
Hey Tony,
Just got back from the Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. Long day
finally done.
I think jet lag caught up to us this morning. We really didn't start
playing well till our third match. There are some really good teams
out here. Including some boys U18's teams...WOW!!! Makes me want to
grow up again where I could play club ball from an earlier age. O
well.
I attached some of the team "working".
After playing this morning, we headed downtown to see some sights.
Went to Navy Pier and rode the Ferris wheel...(I HATE HEIGHTS!!!)
Went to Billygoats tavern, the one from SNL. And took 100's of
pictures.
Gotta run!

Sunday, June20th:
Hey all,
After a good nights rest for the whole team, we came out strong the
first game and won. Woo hoo!!! Second game they won a tight one.
Our third game well...we lost. After that Amanda, carrying back her
favorite Starbucks bottled drink, tripped and cut her hand open
leaving us with 7 total players. (Proving that coffee really is
evil! ;) ) Playing with only 7 players, and seriously different line
up, hurt our chances for leaving Chicago on a winning note.
Our day ending sooner than expected, the girls changed and we headed
for downtown. Hit the Hard Rock Cafe for some lunch and then off to
a couple local places for sites. We all went up in the Sears
Tower...the view was AWESOME! You can see for miles. Didn't hurt
that the weather here today was sunny and about 75. Then we took the
"L" around the loop and went to Gino's East Pizzeria. If you ever
have the chance to go, do it. The pizza is amazing.
Anyway, all in all, we've had a blast here in Chicago, looking
forward to not waking up at the crack of dawn tomorrow.
See you all soon!
