Tony Miranda

Tony has been involved in the volleyball community for going on sixteen years now.  He has served as Club Director for Northwest Juniors VBC for six years. He stays very busy and active in the volleyball community.  In addition to running NW Juniors, he is the Junior Program Director for the Puget Sound Region, USAV (2002 to present).   He has also served on the YJOV (Youth and Junior Olympic Volleyball) Competition Commission, Girl's Committee since 2004 -- which oversees competition issues at the National level for USA Volleyball juniors. 

He began his coaching career in 1989 for Northwest Juniors.  He volunteered at Highline Community College in 1990 and then from 1991-1997 he was the head coach at Foster High School.  He was the head coach in 1998 at Holy Names Academy.  In all, Tony has coached club for 15 seasons, all ranging from 15's-18's teams and boys.  Tony began his collegiate coaching career in 1999, when he was a graduate assistant at Seattle Pacific University.  The next year he was the first assistant coach and then served as head coach at Bellevue Community College for the 2001-2004 seasons , where his teams took 5th, 3rd, 5th, and 5th at the NWAACC championships in 2001, 2002, 2003, and  2004 respectively.  He finished his career at Bellevue Community College with a four year head coaching record of 39-9 in the North Division (.812) and 124 – 76 overall (.620). He was voted coach of the year in the Northern Division in 2001 & 2002, and in 2002 was voted all-NWAACC coach of the year.

Tom Perry

Tom returns for his fifth year with Northwest Juniors.  He had a successful season as the 16 Storm Head coach the last two years and was 15 Thunder head coach previously.  He started as the 14 Storm assistant in 2002.  In the fall of 2002, 2003, and 2004 Tom served as a volunteer assistant at Bellevue CC -- and works primarily with the setters.  Tom is also a guest coach at the University of Washington and University of Wyoming volleyball camps and has attended three Gold Medal Squared volleyball coaching clinics.  Previous to his arrival in the Seattle area, he coached five years for high school boys teams, three years for high school girls and three years for recreational teams.  Tom was also a setter on the men's team at El Camino Junior College and Cal Poly Pomona.  He has also played beach volleyball for 7 years and USA Volleyball for four.

Danka Danicic

18 Storm Assistant Coach

 

Danka is a Senior Defensive Specialist for the University of Washington Volleyball team.  In 2004, she was Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention, she played in all 112 games and 31 matches, making 14 starts.  She was ranked fourth on the team with 2.70 digs per game, had 17 double-digit dig performances, including a career-best 17 digs at UCLA (Sept. 24), 16 digs vs. Washington State (Nov. 5), and 14 digs at USC (Sept. 25) and vs. Stanford (Oct. 23); she also had a career-best four service aces against Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Sept. 4) and had three aces against UCLA (Sept. 24) and USC (Sept. 25)  -- she averaged 0.27 service aces per game to rank third on the team.  She appeared in 30 matches and 81 games her sophomore year, and 24 matches and 74 games her freshman year. 

Danka is an experienced coach -- she was an assistant coach for Cascade Juniors in 2005, was a volunteer assistant on the NW Juniors 18 Storm team in 2004,  and has coached three years at the UW Volleyball camps.

In secondary school, she attended Valjevska Gimnazija, located in Valjevo, Serbia and Mentenegro, graduating in 2000.  She competed for three club teams, with the most recent being Oblic in Belgrade, Yugoslavia.  She was the  team Most Valuable Player for Spartak in 1997 and 1998.

Bill Kellogg

18 Eclipse (Edmonds) Head Coach

Bill is a highly respected veteran coach in the Puget Sound Region.  His coaching experience includes: 11 Seasons coaching at Tolt/Cedarcrest High School where he had a 128-100 regular season record and 22-25 in post season reaching as high as Second in State; and 5 Seasons coaching at Edmonds Community College where he is 54 - 35 in regular season and 3 - 9 in post season play

In his tenure at Edmonds and at Cedarcrest, he has had players move on to Western Washington University, University of Washington, Chicago State University, Montana Technical College, North Carolina AG and Tech State University, Manhattan University, Green River Community College, and Northwest Bible College to name most of the schools who have recruited his players.

Bill is a retired teacher after 25 years of service to the Riverview School District in Washington State. He was head coach for nine years which included three State appearances attaining as high as second in the State Tournament. He has also been very active in the USAV club program and United States Youth Volleyball League in the Washington area. He has coached for several successful clubs in the Puget Sound Region, and brings tremendous expertise to Northwest Juniors.

Edmonds Community College has attended the NWAACC play-offs for five years now, reaching as high as 7 in a field of 16. 1998 was the first time Edmonds reached the play-offs in eight years. Edmonds Community College has placed 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 4th in the Northern Region under Coach Kellogg's direction.  They are on their way to another post-season appearance in 2005. 

Lindsay Guzzo

Lindsay is a former setter for Bill Kellogg at Edmonds CC and moved on to star for two years at Montana Tech.  Lindsay played on two championship-caliber teams while an athlete in the Community College system.  As a sophomore at Edmonds,  her team won the Northern Division and she was named the Northern Region MVP; her freshman year, she played at Chemeketa CC (Salem, OR) where her team was the Southern Region and, eventual, NWAACC champion.  Her coaching experience includes volunteer assisting at Edmonds CC and summer camp staff for Montana Tech and Edmonds CC volleyball camps.

Kim Werkau

Kim is now the Head coach at Kent-Meridian High School,  and coached the NW Juniors 17 Thunder team in 2005, leading them to a 4th place finish in the Regional Championships and a great finish at Volleyball Festival.  Previous to that, she coached the Bonney Lake U17 team during the 2004 USA Volleyball season.  Kim has a very impressive playing and coaching resume and has decided to make coaching a primary part of her life.  Kim has worked with many teams in the Sumner area both during her high school years and since her return from Central Washington University.  She played for Central Washington University, where she was a middle, from 1999 - 2003.  Previous to that she played at Northwest Juniors and for Sumner High School.  We are pleased to have another NW Juniors alum return to the fold.

Lindsey Price

Lindsay was the 13 Tempest assistant coach in 2005 and returns for another year as an assistant .  Lindsey played for the Juanita High School varsity from 2001 - 2003 and graduated from in 2004. She is currently student at Shoreline Community College.  She has played volleyball seven years and plans to study Teaching in college.  Her younger sister is now a junior at Juanita High School.

Kelley McGinty

Kelley is recent graduate of Eastern New Mexico University, an NCAA Division II program, but she is no stranger to the Northwest.  Kelley transferred to ENMU from Whatcom Community College in Bellingham and grew up in Longview, WA where she played club volleyball for Cowlitz Juniors.  During her playing career, Kelley has been received all-league honors both at Whatcom and at ENMU as an outside hitter.  She comes to us after coaching at Portales Junior High School in New Mexico. 

Kelley received her degree in Communication, with an emphasis in Public Relations and served as the assistant to the Sports Information Director at ENMU. 

Marie Bracy

Marie assists her mother Pam Bracy at Washington Middle School (Seattle School District) and played volleyball at Summit High School.  This will be her first year coaching club volleyball.

Kelsey Ruddy

Kelsey played two years at Bellevue Community College (2004, 2005) as an outside hitter and setter.  Her sophomore year, she was in the top ten in the conference in assists per game and was third at the NWAACC Championships at 11.23 per game.  She was on the Northern Division all-star teams both years and played on the Northern Region all-star team her sophomore year.  Kelsey is a native of Crystal Lake, Illinois where she was voted to the all-area team at Crystal Lake High School.  She also played for First Kill Volleyball Club for 5 years and participated in many club national championship events.  Kelsey has coached two years with Northwest Volleyball Camps and is currently finishing her degree in Children's Studies at Eastern Washington University through Bellevue Community College.  Her family resides in Mill Creek, where here younger sister plays volleyball at Jackson HS.

Dragan Karadzic

Dragan comes to us from the Great Lakes Region, where he was extremely active in the Junior Volleyball Community.  Dragan was an IMPACT Clinician in the Great Lakes Region along with being a member of the Great Lakes Region Executive Board, Great Lakes Region Girls Junior Coordinator, Great Lakes Region High Performance Camp Co Head Administrator,  a USA Volleyball Junior National Referee, USA Volleyball Junior National Staff Member and a IHSA Volleyball Coach at Evanston Township High School and a certified IHSA Volleyball Official.   He is the current head coach at Cascade High School in Everett. 

Dragan most recently coached three years for Adversity Volleyball Club (U18 Elite Coach) after 12 years of being at the helm of his own, Dragon's Volleyball Club.  In 1998, Dragan was named USAV Junior Club Director of the Year and in 1995 Dragan earned the Great Lakes Region Meritorious Service Award.  Dragan is IMPACT, ASEP, CAP I Certified and a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). 

Given his extensive experience, Dragan has also been selected as the Puget Sound Region's High Performance Program Director as well as Junior Tournament Director.  Dragan was also recently elected to serve on the USA Volleyball Junior Girls Competition Commission.

Dorian Ducker

Dorian started his coaching career several years ago at Bellevue High School as a JV coach.  He also coached his men's team while a student at BYU-Idaho.  As a player, Dorian played NAIA club volleyball at BYU-Idaho and was a starting libero and back-up setter.  He was his team's player of the year in 2004 and made the all tournament team at the 2003 NAIA regional championships.  He recently returned to the Seattle area (Everett) and makes his return to coaching here at Northwest Juniors.

Jenny Burrows

Jenny is currently a Freshman starting Middle Hitter on the Seattle University Volleyball team.  She is no stranger to coaching, though having coached 7th and 8th graders for the Sierra Nevada Volleyball Club's youth league program in 2004 and 2005.  She also coached a men's club team at Galena High School (her alma mater in Reno, NV) in 2005.

Jenny came to Seattle University as one of the most decorated volleyball players in the program's history. She was the 2003 Gatorade Player of the Year in Nevada, a two-time High Desert League Most Valuable Player and a second-team selection as a sophomore...led the them to their first state title in volleyball in 2004.  She was named MVP of the prestigious Las Vegas Invitational in 2004 and was named to the all-tournament team in 2003.  She competed in skiing as well as volleyball at Galena HS...led the team to three state skiing slalom titles, three state giant slalom titles, and three combined state skiing titles...was also an all-state academic selection three times.  She is a welcomed addition to the NW Juniors Coaching Staff. 

 

Garrett Sakimae

Garrett hails from Kauai, Hawaii and is currently a Freshman at Seattle University and serves as the manager and volunteer assistant on the Volleyball team.  Garret's previous coaching experience includes: JV volleyball assistant coach at Kauai High School and serving as the volunteer assistant forPookela Volleyball club on Kauai. 

He has an impressive playing resume having played 4 years at Kauai High School.  During those 4 years, he spent 2 years on Varsity and was an All KIF setter, All state Honorable mention for the Honolulu Advertiser as well as the Honolulu Star Bulletin, a 1st team All-tournament setter at HHSAA State High School Volleyball Tournament, where his team placed 5th in the state.  He was also a member of the  Asics Rainbow Volleyball Club and played in the 2004 Junior Olympics Championships where his team  placed Third in the 16's.  His setting experience, combines with Jenny Burrows' hitting, blocking and defense to make this a great coaching staff.

Ashley is currently a sophomore outside hitter and libero on the Edmonds Community College volleyball team.  She is a highly decorated athlete out of Marysville-Pilchuk High School.  At M-P she was a tri-sport letter-winner -- lettering in volleyball, basketball, and softball.  She also played two seasons for Northshore Juniors Volleyball Club. While at MP, she received various awards, including All-league Honorable mention in 2002, and second team in 2001.  She plans on majoring in Psychology and Sociology  after transferring to a four-year school.

One of our best assistant coaches in 2005, Vince assumes control of the 16 Tornado team for 2006.  He spent this past high school season as the C-team coach at Sammamish High School.  He was head coach for the 16 Avalanche team in 2004, and in 2005, due to work commitments, served as an assistant coach for the 15 Tempest team.  In 2003, Vince was an volunteer coach at Roosevelt High School, and was the assistant varsity coach at Bush Academy in 2002. Before this, Vince was in California at the University of California, Berkeley. Here, Vince was the head of the Volleyball Intramural Program, and did refereeing for 3 years for the Intramural Program. Vince played for 3 years at University High School in CA where he was a DS/Outside, and also played 1 year of club at Capo Valley as a Setter. Vince was also involved in playing for the Intramural Program at Berkeley and did so for 4 years.  Vince is an avid indoor and outdoor player and will wow you with his "hops" and defensive prowess.

Jenny is currently a sophomore outside hitter on the Bellevue Community College volleyball team.  Her freshman year, she was in the top five in the conference in aces per game.  She was also fourth at the NWAACC Championships in kills per game and was named to the all-NWAACC Tournament second team.  Jenny is a Newport High School alumni and played 3 years for Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club.  Jenny has coached two years with Northwest Volleyball Camps and was an assistant on the 16 Storm team last season.

Kyleen Charlton

Kyleen is new to the Seattle area.  She is a former Division I setter (Boston College class of 2001) and played juniors for Tampa Bay Juniors in Tampa, Florida.  While with Tampa Juniors, she was a member of the 1996 runner-up team at the Junior Olympic Championships.  She was an all-state athlete in high school in volleyball and basketball and offers some great experiences for our athletes to learn from. 

She has previous coaching experience working camps  at the University of Tampa, Florida Southern College and the University of Florida.  We welcome Kyleen to our coaching staff.

Caroline Oliver

Caroline is another recent transplant to the Seattle area that wants to give back to the sport by coaching club volleyball.  This will be her first year coaching for Northwest Juniors.  She played junior club volleyball for Georgia Juniors and North Atlanta Volleyball  from 1995-2000 and also played intramurals in college.

Angie could not stay away... so when offered the opportunity to take over the 15 Thunder position vacated by Jen Michael (who was offered a Division 1 Assistant Job at Troy St. in Alabama)  she jumped at it!  We are excited to have Angie coaching the 15 Thunder team.

Angela started coaching career as an assistant with Northwest Juniors (15 Tempest) in 2003.  This will be her third year at the helm of the a U15 team (2 year with 15 Tempest).  She has played since high school though, at Foster High and also played at Highline Community College for two years in 1998 and 1999.  Angie is one of the most liked coaches in the club!

Erin Corwine

Erin is originally from Minnesota, where she played club volleyball for Northern Lights VBC and Minnesota One VBC.  She played for Eagan High School (opposite and defensive specialist)  where they won back to back state championships in 1997 and 1998.  After high school, she went onto the crew team at the University of New Hampshire and continued to play intramural volleyball .  She spent her summers coaching volleyball at her alma mater and still plays volleyball in adult leagues.  This will be her first year coaching club volleyball.

This is Edwin's first foray into the volleyball coaching realm.  He has a lot of experience working other sports, and has a personal interest in volleyball he offers a wonderful insight and is a great addition to the 15 Thunder staff.

Jason Mills

2006 marks the third season for Jason and  Northwest Juniors.  Fall of 2004 he was the Junior Varsity coach for Juanita High School.  He has also worked for three years with the Special Olympics Qualified Teams. Jason has played volleyball actively for 18 years and plays either indoors or outdoors on the grass or sand.

Joy Vander Linden

Joy brings with her 3 years of coaching experience at Shoreline Christian School.  She was the Varsity assistant and the JV head coach during the 2000 - 2003 seasons.  She has also attended WIAA coaches clinics and attended the PEMCO all-sports clinics for 2 years.  Joy also played four years of varsity volleyball at Shoreline Christian and is still an active volleyball player as an adult.

Lauren Berett

A 2001 graduate of Liberty High School, Lauren comes to us after having graduated (May, 2005) with a degree in Psychology from Chapman University in Orange, CA. (NCAA Division III).  Lauren's coaching experience includes working summers at Liberty High School's Volleyball Camps.  This will be Lauren's first foray into coaching club volleyball, but she is no stranger to the world of club volleyball.  Lauren played for Sudden Impact Volleyball Club during the 2000 and  2001 seasons; and played for Northwest Juniors during the 1998 and 1999 seasons.  She was a 3-year varsity athlete at Liberty and her awards include: team MVP and Captain her junior and senior years,  All KingCo Honorable mention her junior year, and All KingCo Second team her senior year.  In addition, Lauren played two years (2001-2002), as a setter, on the Chapman University volleyball team.  We welcome Lauren back to the NW Juniors family.

Kelly Lindberg

Kelly is Lauren's younger sister and will graduate from Liberty High School in 2006.  She has been on the varsity at Liberty since her freshmen year. She was voted Most Inspirational her freshman year and received the "Triple D" award her junior year, an honor given to the volleyball athlete at Liberty with the best attitude. She played club volleyball for Club Wahine her sophomore year.  She is currently assessing her college options and hopes to stay in western Washington.

Melissa Mulick

Melissa is currently a Junior Defensive Specialist on the Seattle University Volleyball team.  She played in 25 of Seattle's 26 matches in 2004...started 16 of those matches...was fourth on the team with 259 digs...had a high of 20 digs against Central Washington (11/06/04)...her 15 service aces were also fifth-best on the team.  She was a four-year letter winner at Forest Grove HS (OR) and played club ball for Nike Northwest Juniors. 

Melissa has been a guest coach at University of Washington and Northwest Juniors Volleyball Camps.  Seattle University employs the same "Gold Medal" systems as UW and NW Juniors, making Melissa well-versed in our systems of play.  She is an excellent addition to our coaching staff.

Nikole Thompson

Nikole is currently a Sophomore Outside Hitter on the Seattle University Volleyball team.  She had a successful freshman season in her first year of collegiate volleyball...playing in 21 of 26 matches with starts in 16 of those matches.  She was fourth on the team in kills with 185 (2.53 kills per game)...hit .419 (15-2-31) against Cal State L.A. (09/04/04)...averaged 3.10 kills per game in GNAC matches...set career-high of 21 kills against Alaska-Fairbanks (11/05/04)...career-high 53 attempts came against Saint Martin's (10/05/04).

A graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck HS, Nikole was a three-year varsity volleyball player earning honorable mention all-state honors, as well as first-team all-area and all-conference as a senior in 2003.  She led the M-P Tomahawks to a second-place finish at the Washington state championships as a senior, and also placed seventh as a junior.

Dragan will expand his duties and work with our U14 team in Edmonds as well as our U16 team.  We are excited to include Dragan as an integral part of our Edmonds Club.

Nichole Jensen

Nichole is a sophomore outside hitter on the Edmonds Community College volleyball team.  She had a tremendous volleyball career at Nooksack Valley High School and starred for two year at Edmonds.  She was a 4 year varsity starter on the volleyball team and was voted 2nd team all league (North Cascades Conference) her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She also played Club Volleyball. She wants to transfer to a 4 year university somewhere and major in elementary education and eventually become a 3rd or 5th grade teacher

Jackie Dickens

Jackie has been the Finn Hill Junior High School (in Kirkland) varsity coach since 2004.  She also served as the Juanita High School C-team coach in 2004 and still works closely with the JHS program. Previous to coaching, Jackie played 6 years in the Lake Washington School District, including two years varsity at Juanita High School and one year with Northwest Juniors.  She is a 2003 graduate of Juanita High School and immediately made the jump to coaching after graduating.  Her recent junior high school coaching experience, her youth, and her knowledge of the age group make her a perfect coach for our 14 Cyclone team.  We look forward to her contributions to the 2005 staff. 

Amanda Crank

Amanda is a senior at Issaquah High School (3rd place at State 3A in 2005) and a member of the 2005 17 Thunder volleyball team.  She has been a part of Northwest Juniors (and on a national team) since her days as a 14 Storm Player.  She is now the DS/Libero for the 18 Storm team and was and was recently honored as an Honorable Mention as a member of the Seattle Times 3A All-State team.  She also coached at NW Juniors volleyball camps this past summer.  She brings tremendous leadership and experience as a player to the 14 Cyclone team.

This is Nokta's first year as a coach for Northwest Juniors.  Last year she head coached a U16 team at Momentum VBC.  Nokta is from Turkey, and played volleyball there.

This is Pamela's second year as an assistant for Northwest Juniors.  Last year  she assisted the 16 Avalanche team.  Pamela previously was an assistant coach for San Dimas High School in California.

Margo Gockel

We are delighted to have Margo Gockel back as a Head Coach.  Margo returned to coaching in 2004 after a one-year recovery from ACL surgery. She brings with her a wealth of coaching and playing experience.  She has been playing volleyball for over Twenty-five years, including one year at Seattle University, two years at Bellevue Community College, and three years at Sammamish High School.  Margo also has played six years of organized volleyball in Seattle’s and Bellevue’s adult programs.  From 1996-2001 she had been Head coach for 12’s, 13’s, and 14’s at CYO volleyball winning two All City Championships.   Margo’s daughter Jessica Gockel, had played two years for Northwest Juniors and is currently playing volleyball at the University of Portland (Div 1).

Brianna Mercado

Brianna is a senior at Eastlake High School and a member of the 2005 17 Thunder volleyball team.  She has been a part of Northwest Juniors for three years.  She also coached at NW Juniors volleyball camps this past summer.  She will be a great role model for our U13's.

Amanda Landino

Amanda is a senior at Kent-Meridian High School and a member of the 2005 17 Tempest volleyball team.  She is a product of the Northwest Juniors VBC system  -- having started out with the U14 Storm team as an 8th grader.  She has a solid volleyball background and has coached many camps during her summers. She carries a 3.95 GPA and is a three-sport athlete.  She is a natural leader, a great role model, and will do a wonderful job with our youngest group of NW Juniors spikers.

Terri Bracy

Terri is a freshman at Bellevue Community College where she is the starting outside hitter for them.  She also started out as a teammate of Amanda's on the U14 Storm team as an 8th grader.  Since her first year with 14 Storm, she has continued with club volleyball closer to home.  She is a 2005 graduate of Summit High School, and graduated as a mere 17 year-old.  She is a great student and an intercollegiate athlete -- that, paired with her endless enthusiasm will help her excel in the role as coach for the 12 Storm team.
