Tony has been involved in the volleyball community for going on eighteen years now. He has served as Club Director for Northwest Juniors VBC for seven years. He stays very busy and active in the volleyball community. In addition to running NW Juniors, he is the Junior Program Director for the Puget Sound Region, USAV (2002 to present) and the head coach at Edmonds Community College. He has also served on the YJOV (Youth and Junior Olympic Volleyball) Competition Commission, Girl's Committee since 2004 -- which oversees competition issues at the National level for USA Volleyball juniors. He began his coaching career in 1989 for Northwest Juniors. He volunteered at Highline Community College in 1990 and then from 1991-1997 he was the head coach at Foster High School. He was the head coach in 1998 at Holy Names Academy. In all, Tony has coached club for 17 seasons, all ranging from 15's-18's teams and boys. Tony began his collegiate coaching career in 1999, when he was a graduate assistant at Seattle Pacific University. The next year he was the first assistant coach and then served as head coach at Bellevue Community College for the 2001-2004 seasons, where his teams took 5th, 3rd, 5th, and 5th at the NWAACC championships in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 respectively. He finished his career at Bellevue Community College with a four year head coaching record of 39-9 in the North Division (.812) and 124 – 76 overall (.620). He was voted coach of the year in the Northern Division in 2001 & 2002, and in 2002 was voted all-NWAACC coach of the year. He has been with the Edmonds Community College program since 2005. |

Tom Perry

Tom returns for his sixth year with Northwest Juniors and is, technically, one of the strongest club coaches in the Puget Sound Region in understanding and applying the Gold Medal Volleyball Systems used by Northwest Juniors. Tom will be primarily responsible for training our younger coaches and assisting at their practices. Tom will also be responsible to maintaining the integrity of our systems throughout the club. In his tenure with Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club, he has had successful seasons as the 18 Storm Head coach in 2006, 16 Storm Head coach in 2005 & 2004, 15 Thunder head coach in 2003, and the 14 Storm assistant coach in 2002. Additionally, in the fall of 2002, 2003, and 2004 Tom served as a volunteer assistant at Bellevue Community College -- and worked primarily with the setters. Tom has also been a guest coach at the University of Washington and University of Wyoming volleyball camps and has attended four Gold Medal Squared volleyball coaching clinics. Tom will also work with our athletes that desire Dartfish video training to enhance their learning experience. Previous to his arrival in the Seattle area, Tom coached college and high school men's teams in California and also played beach volleyball for 7 years and USA Volleyball for four. |

18 Storm Head Coach
|
Kim is Northwest Volleyball's Adult Program Director and Assistant Club Director for Northwest Juniors VBC. She is also the Head Coach at Bellevue Community College, where her 2006 team finished 3rd in the northern division of the NWAACC. Before being hired at Bellevue Community College, Kim was the head coach at Kent-Meridian High School, and assistant coach at Evergreen High School, and volunteer assistant at Sumner High School. She has also worked many different camps and clinics in the Sumner and Bellevue areas. Kim coached the NW Juniors 17 Thunder team in 2005 and 2006. In 2005 she led them to a 4th place finish in the Regional Championships and a great finish at Volleyball Festival. Previous to her Northwest Juniors coaching experience, she coached the Bonney Lake U17 team during the 2004 USA Volleyball season. Kim played high school ball at Sumner High School, where the volleyball team qualified for state for the first time in the school's history (1997) and placed in 6th state the following year. She played club ball at Northwest Juniors during her entire high school career. Kim then played at Central Washington University from 1998-2001 where she was a middle blocker and a team captain in 2000-1. The team finished third in the NCAA in 1999, and second in the GNAC the following two years. Kim has a very impressive playing and coaching resume and has decided to make coaching a primary part of her life. We are pleased to have another NW Juniors alum return to the fold. |

Cerena Laurance 18 Storm Assistant Coach |
Currently a second grade teacher at Columbia Crest in Ashford, WA, Cerena has been very involved in athletics since she was in elementary school. A high school grad from West Valley in Yakima, she excelled in basketball, volleyball, and track, traveling to the state tourney for all 3 sports and being a member of the All-State East team for volleyball. She then played 4 years at CWU as a middle blocker/right side from 1999-2002. Since then, Cerena has been an active coach in many arenas. She was the U-15 club coach for Above the Net in Graham, WA. She is also currently the boy’s basketball & girl’s basketball, and track coach at Eatonville Middle School. Cerena is also the JV volleyball coach for Eatonville High School. Cerena lives in Eatonville with her dog, Le’la. We are very excited to have Cerena as a part of our 2007 staff. |

Tony Miranda Club Director 17 Thunder Head Coach |
Tony moves up from to 17 Thunder, primarily to coach the core of his 16 Storm team from the 2006 season. The 16 Storm team had a successful campaign in 2006, ending the season ranked in the top in the Puget Sound Region Rankings and placing 46th out of 216 teams at the Volleyball Festival. Tony has been involved in the volleyball community for going on seventeen years now. He began his coaching career in 1989 for Northwest Juniors. 17 Thunder Asst. Coach |
Kelsey is currently an assistant coach at Edmonds Community College and was the 16 Storm Assistant during the 2006 club season. Kelsey played two years at Bellevue Community College (2004, 2005) as an outside hitter and setter. Her sophomore year, she was in the top ten in the conference in assists per game and was third at the NWAACC Championships at 11.23 per game. She was on the Northern Division all-star teams both years and played on the Northern Region all-star team her sophomore year. Kelsey is a native of Crystal Lake, Illinois where she was voted to the all-area team at Crystal Lake High School. She also played for First Kill Volleyball Club for 5 years and participated in many club national championship events. Kelsey has coached three years with Northwest Volleyball Camps and is currently finishing her degree in Children's Studies at Eastern Washington University through Bellevue Community College. Her family resides in Mill Creek, where here younger sister plays volleyball at Jackson HS. |

KyLee is a 2003 graduate of Spanaway Lake High School and played on the 2003 18 Storm Adidas team for Coach Miranda. After graduation she played one season at Highline Community College, then moved to California to finish her education. This is her first experience as a coach. |

Jenny Burrows 16 Storm Head Coach |
Jenny was the Head coach of our top U16 Regional team in 2006 and returns with a promotion to the 16 National team in 2007. She is currently a Sophomore starting Middle Hitter on the Seattle University Volleyball team. She is no stranger to coaching, though having coached 7th and 8th graders for the Sierra Nevada Volleyball Club's youth league program in 2004 and 2005. She also coached a men's club team at Galena High School (her alma mater in Reno, NV) in 2005. Jenny came to Seattle University as one of the most decorated volleyball players in the program's history. She was the 2003 Gatorade Player of the Year in Nevada, a two-time High Desert League Most Valuable Player and a second-team selection as a sophomore...led the them to their first state title in volleyball in 2004. She was named MVP of the prestigious Las Vegas Invitational in 2004 and was named to the all-tournament team in 2003. She competed in skiing as well as volleyball at Galena HS...led the team to three state skiing slalom titles, three state giant slalom titles, and three combined state skiing titles...was also an all-state academic selection three times. We are proud to have her back on the NW Juniors Coaching Staff. |

Michael Christiansen 16 Storm Assistant Coach |
Coach Christiansen is the current coach at Kent Meridian High School, after leaving a successful program at Dominican High School in Milwaukee, WI where his team finished 24-6 his last season. He was also the head track and field coach for three years. In addition to coaching, Michael taught AP United States History and AP Politics and Government at Milwaukee-Vincent High School. Michael served as a coach for the Badger Regional High Performance team for the past 3 years. In 2004 he started his own club team, Lakeside Volleyball, where he served as club director and coach. In addition, Michael coached one season at Marquette University for the Men’s Volleyball team, helping them to a top 9 finish in the nation. He played middle hitter at Marquette University for 4 years, where the team finished in the top 9 for three of those years and he served as team captain for 2 years. Michael has recently married his lovely wife, Kellie, and they have moved to Maple Valley with their dog Max. We are very excited to have Michael coaching at NW Jr's this year. |

Melissa returns after a great 2006 season as the head coach of the 14 Storm team. Melissa was named the Club's 2006 Head Coach of the Year. She is currently a Senior Defensive Specialist on the Seattle University Volleyball team. She played in 25 of Seattle's 26 matches in 2004...started 16 of those matches...was fourth on the team with 259 digs...had a high of 20 digs against Central Washington (11/06/04)...her 15 service aces were also fifth-best on the team. She was a four-year letter winner at Forest Grove HS (OR) and played club ball for Nike Northwest Juniors. Melissa has been a guest coach at University of Washington and Northwest Juniors Volleyball Camps. Seattle University employs the same "Gold Medal" systems as UW and NW Juniors, making Melissa well-versed in our systems of play. She is an excellent addition to our coaching staff. |

Nikole Thompson 15 Thunder Assistant Coach |
Nikole returns at Melissa's assistant coach and is currently a Junior Outside Hitter on the Seattle University Volleyball team. She had a successful freshman season in her first year of collegiate volleyball...playing in 21 of 26 matches with starts in 16 of those matches. She was fourth on the team in kills with 185 (2.53 kills per game)...hit .419 (15-2-31) against Cal State L.A. (09/04/04)...averaged 3.10 kills per game in GNAC matches...set career-high of 21 kills against Alaska-Fairbanks (11/05/04)...career-high 53 attempts came against Saint Martin's (10/05/04). A graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck HS, Nikole was a three-year varsity volleyball player earning honorable mention all-state honors, as well as first-team all-area and all-conference as a senior in 2003. She led the M-P Tomahawks to a second-place finish at the Washington state championships as a senior, and also placed seventh as a junior. |

Leon Blazer 14 Storm Head Coach |
Leon came to us mid-season in 2006 and was assigned as an assistant with the 14 Cyclone team. His previous coaching experience contributed to helping the team grow immensely. He is currently the JV coach at Sammamish High School. He has been involved as a player or coach for several years -- having moved from the Mt. Vernon area. We are excited about Leon's promotion as a National Team Head Coach and look forward to a great season for that team. |

Amanda is a freshman at Bellevue Community College and 2006 Alumni of Issaquah High School (3rd place at State 3A in 2005). She has been a part of Northwest Juniors (and on a national team) since her days as a 14 Storm Player. She is a DS/Libero at BCC and was honored as a 2006 Honorable Mention as a member of the Seattle Times 3A All-State team. She also coached at NW Juniors volleyball camps the past 2 summers. In 2006 she was the assistant coach for the 14 Cyclone Team. She brings tremendous leadership and experience as a player to the 14 Storm team. |

Bill Kellogg 18 Eclipse (Edmonds) Head Coach |
Bill is a highly respected veteran coach in the Puget Sound Region. His coaching experience includes: 11 Seasons coaching at Tolt/Cedarcrest High School where he had a 128-100 regular season record and 22-25 in post season reaching as high as Second in State; and 6 Seasons coaching at Edmonds Community College where he is 54 - 35 in regular season and 3 - 9 in post season play. In his tenure at Edmonds and at Cedarcrest, he has had players move on to Western Washington University, University of Washington, Chicago State University, Montana Technical College, North Carolina AG and Tech State University, Manhattan University, and Northwest Bible College to name most of the schools who have recruited his players. Edmonds Community College has attended the NWAACC play-offs for five years now, reaching as high as 7 in a field of 16. 1998 was the first time Edmonds reached the play-offs in eight years. Bill is a retired teacher after 25 years of service. He has coached for several successful clubs in the Puget Sound Region, and brings tremendous expertise to Northwest Juniors. |

Jason Mills 16 Heat (Edmonds) Head Coach

2007 marks the
fourth
season for Jason and Northwest Juniors. Jason moves up to
the 16 Heat team after a great season as the 15 Heat coach in the
inaugural season of the Northwest Juniors - Edmonds program.
Jason also is the assistant club director in Edmonds -- partially
responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Gold Medal
Systems taught by Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club.
Jason has attended two Gold Medal Squared Volleyball clinics.
Fall of 2004 he was the Junior Varsity coach for Juanita High School. He has also worked for three years with the Special Olympics Qualified Teams. Jason has played volleyball actively for 18 years and plays either indoors or outdoors on the grass or sand. |

Jessica Marsh 16 Blizzard Head Coach |
An Oregon native, Jessica comes to us with a wealth of volleyball knowledge and organizational skill. Jessica played on her high school team, David Douglas HS in Portland, and graduated in 2001. Since then, she competed on her intramural team at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR, where she also earned her bachelors of science degree in speech, communication, humanities, and psychology (graduating cum laude) in 2006. From 2003 – 2006, Jessica was a coach for Cascade Jr’s VBC based in Gresham, OR and focused primarily on the U-14 and U-16 teams. She has since moved to Seattle and is currently pursuing her Masters Degree from Seattle Pacific University in Organizational Development, and will graduate in 2008. We are very happy to welcome Jessica to our family at Northwest Juniors. |

Dragan is IMPACT, ASEP, CAP I Certified and a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Dragan is also the Puget Sound Region's High Performance Program Director as well as Junior Tournament Director. Dragan also serves on the USA Volleyball Junior Girls Competition Commission. |

Caroline Oliver 14 Eclipse Head Coach |
Caroline was the assistant coach for our 16 Avalanche team in 2006. She is a transplant to the Seattle area that wants to give back to the sport by coaching club volleyball. 2006 was her first year coaching for Northwest Juniors and she did a great job with the Avalanche team. She played junior club volleyball for Georgia Juniors and North Atlanta Volleyball from 1995-2000 and also played intramurals in college. We are looking forward to having her lead our 14's in Edmonds. |

Katherine just recently moved up from San Diego, where she was heavily involved in club volleyball. She is a native of San Dimas, California and was a setter from 6th grade through her club playing days at San Diego State University. She also played for various junior volleyball clubs from U16's and on. Her coaching resume includes coaching 16's in 2005 for Club Pacific and coaching both U10's and 12-14's for the Glendora Youth VBC. |

Deborah has been involved with volleyball for quite some time, dating back to plying at Long Beach State. Her most recent coaching experience is as an assistant U12/13 coach last year at Cascade Volleyball Club. She has also coached the last three years at the Green Lake Community Center. She is still an active volleyball player in Seattle area adult volleyball leagues. |

Jolene (Jo) comes to assist the 14 Blizzard team with a plethora of playing and coaching experience. She has been actively playing volleyball for the past 10 years, and currently keeps her skills up to par on a adult league. Jolene coached at Horizon Middle School in Spokane, where her team was undefeated. |

Charlie Andrade 13 Twister Head Coach
|
One of our most experienced coaches, Charlie has been in volleyball for fourteen years now. This is his fourth year with Northwest Juniors, having been head coach for 14 Storm in 2005 and 18 Cyclone in 2004, and an assistant coach for 16 Storm in 2003. He has a great coaching history: from 1992-1997 he was the volunteer assistant coach for Mountlake Terrace High School Varsity Volleyball. He was the head coach for Mariner High School from 1998 to 2002 and started coaching club volleyball in 1996. At the first club, Pacific Rim, he coached 16's and 18's. At the second club, Rain City, he coached 16's and 14's. After that he spent one year coaching 16's at Space Needle VB Foundation. Charlie has also been playing organized volleyball for seven years, spending the first 3 with Rain City and currently he is a setter for Strike Force Volleyball Club (adult program). Charlie is also a certified official, and you can see him scorekeeping or doing lines at the occasional UW Match. |

Tracey Nephew 13 Twister Assistant Coach |
Tracey has had a successful playing career in volleyball, and has decided to make the transition into coaching. Tracey played at Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, and graduated in 1987. While in high school, Tracey was a varsity starter her freshman through her senior year, and selected on the All-State team and earned All-City honors. Tracey then walked-on at Notre Dame and earned a scholarship her final 2 years there. She was a captain her Jr. and Sr. years at Notre Dame and MVP her senior year in 1990. We are very happy to have Tracey coaching at NW Jrs. | |

Dave McDonald 17 Tempest Head Coach |
Dave started the OC Power volleyball club in Orange County, CA in 2003; bringing with him three years of club coaching experience, and 14 years of playing experience, both indoor and outdoor. He played for four years as an outside hitter and opposite for Hope International University in Fullerton, CA, earning a spot on the All –Conference team his junior year. He graduated from HIU in 1998 with a B.A. in Psychology, and graduated from National University and earned his teaching credential. We are very excited to have Dave working with the 17 Tempest team. |

Lacie assisted club Director Tony Miranda on the 18 Storm Assistant during the 2003 club season. She played two years at Bellevue Community College (2001, 2002) as a setter. Both years at Bellevue she was in the top ten in the conference in assists per game. While at Bellevue CC, she led them to a Fifth and Third place finish in the NWAACC Championship Tournament (respectively). She was on the Northern Division all-star teams both years and played on the Northern Region sophomore all-star team her sophomore year. Lacie attended Auburn Riverside High School and played for NW Juniors Volleyball Club for 4 years -- including her U16, 17, 18 years for coach Miranda and participated in several junior national championship events. Lacie received her Business/Accounting degree from the University of Washington. |

Marla Tappero 16 Cyclone Head Coach
|
Marla returns to Northwest Juniors after taking the 2006 season off; this will be her third year as a head coach for Northwest Juniors. Marla is also the assistant varsity and JV coach at Cedar Park Christian School in Bothell and previous to that coached at Kent View Christian School. She has played volleyball since the 7th grade and played high school varsity at Foster High School and Snohomish County Christian. Marla also plays in adult/college intramurals. |

Jimmy comes to us having learned to play volleyball outdoors, mostly on sand and grass in doubles tournaments. He invited to join the UW men's club volleyball team during his undergrad years. He was also offered a spot on a Division III university men's volleyball team on the East Coast during grad school. For the past few years, he has been playing in both indoors and outdoors tourneys and leagues. Jimmy has coaches tennis and baseball teams in the past, and we are happy that he has added coaching volleyball to his long list of priorities. |

Luke Williams 16 Tornado Head Coach

Luke returns to Northwest juniors after taking the 2006 season off. He was an assistant coach with the club during the 2004 and 2005 season, so this will be his third year coaching with Northwest Juniors. Previous to Northwest Juniors, Luke coached at Lakes High School. Luke has played for the Caribbean International Team and also plays in recreational volleyball leagues. We are pleased to welcome him back to NW Juniors. | |

Megan Harvey 16 Tornado Assistant Coach |
Megan comes to us after playing volleyball in high school and recreationally in college. She is involved in several adult leagues in the area as well. Megan's professional background of training, recruiting, and management will help greatly with the 16 Tornado, and we are glad to have her on the team. |

Kaitlyn is a sophomore at BCC and she was a captain for the volleyball team in 2006 as a libero. She was voted Northern Defensive Player of the Week twice, and also the NWAACC Defensive Player of the Week once. She was also a member of the sophomore All Star team and selected 1st team All North. |

Kara is currently a sophomore at Northwest University in Kirkland, where she is an outside hitter. She also played with head coach, Kaitlyn, at Mark Morris High School in Longview. |

Jen Hall 15 Tempest Head Coach

Jen is currently the Junior Varsity Coach and assistant Varsity Coach at Highline High School. Jen has been involved in volleyball since sixth grade, and played for Northwest Juniors since she was a U14, including one traumatic U16 season with Tony Miranda's 16 Storm team (just kidding of course, but it included a trip to Junior Olympics). Jen's coaching experience includes volunteer assistant duties with her alma mater Auburn Riverside HS as well as Power Surge VBC. She is a welcomed addition to the NW Juniors Staff. |

Vince Yuan 15 Tempest Assistant Coach

One of our best regional team coaches in 2006, Vince coached the 16 Tornado team last year. He spent the 2005 high school season as the C-team coach at Sammamish High School. He was head coach for the 16 Avalanche team in 2004, and in 2005, due to work commitments, served as an assistant coach for the 15 Tempest team. In 2003, Vince was an volunteer coach at Roosevelt High School, and was the assistant varsity coach at Bush Academy in 2002. Before this, Vince was in California at the University of California, Berkeley. Here, Vince was the head of the Volleyball Intramural Program, and did refereeing for 3 years for the Intramural Program. Vince played for 3 years at University High School in CA where he was a DS/Outside, and also played 1 year of club at Capo Valley as a Setter. Vince was also involved in playing for the Intramural Program at Berkeley and did so for 4 years. Vince is an avid indoor and outdoor player and will wow you with his "hops" and defensive prowess. |

Margo Gockel 14 Cyclone Head Coach |
We are delighted to have Margo Gockel back as a Head Coach. She moves up to 14 Cyclone after a season with the 13 Thunder team -- a team that showed tremendous progress over the course of the 2006 season. Margo returned to coaching in 2004 after a one-year recovery from ACL surgery. She brings with her a wealth of coaching and playing experience. She has been playing volleyball for over Twenty-five years, including one year at Seattle University, two years at Bellevue Community College, and three years at Sammamish High School. Margo also has played six years of organized volleyball in Seattle’s and Bellevue’s adult programs. From 1996-2001 she had been Head coach for 12’s, 13’s, and 14’s at CYO volleyball winning two All City Championships. Margo’s daughter Jessica Gockel, had played three years for Northwest Juniors and is currently playing volleyball at the University of Portland (Div 1). |

Janet Pearce 14 Cyclone Assistant Coach |
Janet's volleyball background dates back to age 10 when started playing in New Jersey and played through her High School years. She then made the move to Beach Volleyball on the Jersey Shore VBA and then in California on the beach and grass. She began coaching in 2000 with the Benjamin School in West Palm Beach, FL. She began her local coaching career last year for Southend Juniors (U12) after moving to the Seattle area. This is her first year coaching with Northwest Juniors -- we are pleased to have her with Northwest Juniors. |

Nichelle Barott 14 Tornado Head Coach

Nichelle is a sophomore middle hitter at Bellevue Community College. She is a 2005 graduate of Hanford High School. She has been involved in club volleyball for years, having played for Desert Volleyball Club, a club directed by her parents in the Tri-Cities area. Nichelle has great knowledge about the sport of volleyball and a great work ethic. She will do a great job with the 14 Tornado. |

Lyuda is a current member of the 18 Storm team. She attends Highline High School, where she was a Seamount League Honorable Mention this year - her senior year. Previously to playing for NW Juniors, she played for Club Wahine. |

Rae Anne Kelly 13 Thunder Head Coach |
Rae Anne played volleyball in high school at Queen Anne and Franklin, and in College at Whitworth and Seattle Pacific University. She coached volleyball for 4 years prior to having children, 2 years at Watson Groen Christian School and 2 years at Lake Washington High School. Rae Anne also coached my boys in football and baseball for a total of 5 years. She has continued to play volleyball as an adult. In all, Rae Anne had over 30 years involvement in volleyball as a player, official, and coach. |

Louis Galdeira 13 Thunder Assistant Coach |
Louis has been surrounded by volleyball for quite some time. He has lived in the beautiful northwest for 9 years now. previous to moving here, he lived in Hawaii and coached elementary and club volleyball there. He also played on his high school and college intramural teams. Since being in Washington, he has coached at a few tournaments, and he is looking forward to dedicating more of his time to volleyball. We are very excited to have Louis working with the 13 Thunder. |

Deana Webb 13 Tempest Head Coach |
Deana is a Junior
Defensive Specialist at Northwest University in Kirkland. She
is originally from Centerville Texas, and she transferred to
the Northwest from Southwestern AGU in Texas. Deana coached at
Centerville High School in the Houston League and two years for NBC
camps (both volleyball and basketball). We are pleased to
add her to our coaching staff for the 2007 season.

Marijean Woodward 13 Tempest Assistant Coach |
We welcome an experienced player and coach to the 13 Tempest staff. Marijean's playing career began a few years ago with Columbia River HS and Mt. Hood VBC, then continued at Washington State University. Her most recent coaching experience is with Palouse Juniors in 2004, where she coached the U12 team. She has remained active as a player and a coach since her high school and club days. |
