2012 Northwest Juniors Tryout Information

The Puget Sound Region has published the rules and information on tryouts for the 2012 Season.
 

PSR Definitions:

• Incumbent: a player who was a full member that played for a club during last year's season.  Players who were released to play with another club at the end of a club's playing season are incumbents of the releasing club.

• Tryout Date: the earliest date that a club can have tryouts for a particular age group 

• Signing Date: the earliest date that a player can sign a contract with a club. Signing date for incumbents is the Tryout Date for their age group

• Tryout Fees: a club may charge a reasonable tryout fee (no more than $30) to cover the cost of running the tryout. No other financial demand can be made at the time of the tryout.

PSR 2011-12 Signing Process:
While a club can make a verbal offer to a player before the signing date and a player can verbally accept the offer, a club contract contains the whole of the agreement between the club and the player and is not in force until the contract is signed, on or after the signing date, and not before. Once a contract has been signed with a club, you are committed to play with that club. No non-refundable deposits can be required before the contract signing date.

PSR 2011-12 Tryout Dates:
For the 2011-12 season, tryout dates can be:

• U14 and under - November 1-6

• U15 and over - November 15-20

For the 2011-12 season, signing dates will be:

• 14 and under - Mon, Nov 7, except for incumbents whose signing date is Tuesday, November 1

• U15 and over - Mon, Nov 21, except for incumbents whose signing date is Tuesday, November 15

USA  Volleyball Age Group Definitions:  Another simple formula -- How old on September 1, 2012?

• 18 and Under Division (Typically 12th and 11th Graders): 

  • Players who were born on or after September 1, 1993 OR

  • Players who were born on or after September 1, 1992 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year

• 17 and Under Division (Typically 11th Graders only): Players who were born on or after September 1, 1994

• 16 and Under Division (Typically 10th and 9th Graders):  Players who were born on or after September 1, 1995

• 15 and Under Division (Typically 9th Graders only):  Players who were born on or after September 1, 1996

• 14 and Under Division (Typically 8th and 7th Graders):  Players who were born on or after September 1, 1997

• 13 and Under Division (Typically 7th Graders only):  Players who were born on or after September 1, 1998

• 12 and Under Division (Typically 6th and 5th Graders):  Players who were born on or after September 1, 1999

• 11 and Under Division (Typically 5th Graders):  Players who were born on or after September 1, 2000

NW JUNIORS TRYOUT TIMES & PROCEDURES:

Use this form to submit your tryout information for NW Juniors Elite and NW Juniors VBC.  We are only taking online registrations at this time. 

Only one tryout form is needed, even if you are trying out for multiple ages or multiple locations.  Please read program information for NWJRS Elite and NW JUNIORS VBC before registering for tryouts. 

AFTER TRYOUTS:  Please make note of the following dates...

• Players who have signed with Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club will be emailed a link to officially register with the club, register for USA Volleyball Membership, and take care of any other club-related business.

• Players and their parents must attend the Club Season Kickoff Meeting for their Age Group.  At this meeting we will review club rules and expectations (as described in the Club Handbook), teams will have time for team meetings, NW Juniors VBC sportswear will be available for purchase, and vendors will have product available for our members.  Here is the meeting schedule:

  • ALL U12, 13, & 14 Teams (regardless of team location): Sunday, November 13, 4-6 PM at Edmonds Community College (Gym)

  • ALL U15, 16, 17 & 18 Teams (regardless of team location): Monday, November 28, 7-10 PM at Edmonds Community College (Gym)

• November 27: U12-U14 Serve & Passing practice.  7-9 PM at Juanita HS

• December 3 & 4: First practice will be this weekend.  NW Juniors Elite Teams must prepare for extended training camp on BOTH days.  NW Juniors teams will have practice on Sunday, December 4

• TBA December: Club Officiating Clinic

• Thursday, December 29, all teams: Club Jamboree at Edmonds Community College, 6-10 PM

• TBA December: Elite Teams classroom sessions: Nutrition, Goal Setting, College Recruiting, SAQ Training
