– The Zachary Lystedt Law
The Washington State legislature
recently adopted the
Zachary
Lystedt law
to address the
management of concussion and head injury
in youth sports. The law requires
all
school districts and youth sports
associations –
to be in compliance
with policies adopted by the Washington
Interscholastic Activities Association.
If
your child participates in WIAA Sports
then you probably have taken the
necessary steps to educate yourself
about concussions and head injuries
through your school's mandatory
pre-season meetings. It is our
responsibility to make sure all of our
members have complied with this new law.
