Tournament Information:

The 10th Annual MLK Weekend Tournament is an "all-comers" tournament and is no longer just an invitational.  We are accepting teams first come, first serve until the event fills.  We hope this will be a great early season test for all teams as well as a fun multi-day event featuring teams from all over the Northwest.  We have opted to add the U15 and U13's division in order to allow teams to play at age level in this early-season test, however if we do not get enough in each of those age groups they will be mixed in with the older ages.

Every team will have two rounds of pool play, followed by a single elimination tournament.  Teams will play one round of pool play on Saturday -- either AM wave or PM wave -- and play their second round of pool and playoffs on Sunday.  The U15, U16 & U18 tournaments will be held on the Eastside, with our primary play venue being Juanita HS (7 courts).  The U14, U13, and U12's in the South End with our primary playing venue being Highline College (4 courts). The U12's will have just a one-day tournament on Sunday at Highline Community College. Additional venues beyond the HQ sites listed will be secured based on entries received by 12/22/11.

Roster Information & Coaches Meeting:

Rosters need to be updated in the AES system by January 11th, 2012.  Information provided in AES will be used for the tournament program and help us determine eligibility of each team before the event.  PLEASE DO NOT MAIL US YOUR ROSTERS.  Play begins at 8:00 AM on Saturday for AM wave, and 2:30 PM for PM wave.  There will be a coaches and facility rules meeting 30 minutes before the start of your pool play on Saturday.  Please turn in your WEBPOINT USA Volleyball roster at that time (the same roster you would turn in at any USAV tournament in your region) and sign your AES roster.  BOTH rosters will be turned into our region office for verification after the event.  If you are changing sites Sunday, there will be a facility rules meeting 30 minutes before play begins.  For the 12's there will be a coaches meeting and facility rules meeting 30 minutes prior to play begins on Sunday.  Please turn in your WEBPOINT roster at that time.

Team limits and competition days:  Tournament limits and format will be established using number of entries received by December 22, 2011.  If AM/PM wave is not warranted on Saturday, we alter the format in order to allow teams to be finished earlier on Sunday.

The primary playing site for the U18/U16/U15's division will be Juanita High School.

  • U18's: We will accept up to 16 total teams.  U18's will be AM wave on Saturday.

  • U16's: We will accept up to 24 total teams.  U16's will be PM wave on Saturday.

  • U15's: We will accept up to 12 total teams.  U15's will be AM wave on Saturday.

The primary playing site for the U14/U13/U12's division will be Highline College.

  • U14/13's: We will accept 28 total teams.  Teams will play AM & PM wave on Saturday.

  • U12's: We will accept up to 16 total teams.  U12's will be on Sunday.

FORMATS

  • All pool play matches will be 2/3 to 25 points with a 27 point cap.  Game 3 is to 15, no cap.

  • Playoffs will be 2/3 to 25, Game 3 to 15 -- with no caps in any games.

  • Officials are not provided, teams must supply a first referee, second referee, lines people, and scorekeeper crew
