Tournament Information:

The 2012 Memorial Weekend Tournament is an open entry for any team that wants to play over Memorial Day Weekend.  It is not an "invitational" style tournament, so teams will be accepted first come, first served, until the tournament fills.  Also, this will be a two-day format event, allowing teams to enjoy Memorial Day off.  The tournament will be held at various schools in and around the Eastside and North Seattle, and will be a two-day progressive pool play format .  There will be two rounds of pool play, followed by single elimination play.  Saturday will be at least one round of pool (in most cases, the second round of pool will begin Saturday as well), Sunday will be the completion of the second round of pool and all of the playoff matches.  Play will go until later in the day Sunday -- with Monday an off day.

We have received an increasing number of Canadian teams in this tournament as it is an "end of season" tournament for many of them and they enjoy the fact that we do not play on Memorial Day (not a holiday in Canada).  This tournament provides an excellent opportunity for out of state teams (wait listed or unwilling to participate in the Emerald City Classic Invitational Tournament) to be guaranteed an opportunity to spend the three-day weekend in the great city of Seattle, playing volleyball against some of the best teams in the Northwest. It also condenses the same number of matches into a two-day format, allowing for teams to have Memorial Day off, to explore the great Puget Sound area while visiting.  This unique tournament also encourages a higher-level of post-season competition, as the U16's play in a "U18-17" Division, U14's play in a "U15 Division" and U12's play in a "U13 Division".

Team limits:

We have traditionally been able to accept teams after the deadline as teams find out their entry status in the Emerald City Classic

U16-17-18 Division: We will accept up to 24 total teams.

U14-15 Division: We will accept up to 48 total teams.

U12-13 Division: We will accept up to 32 total teams.

  • All pool play matches will be 2/3 to 25 points with a 27 point cap.  Game 3 is to 15, no cap.

  • Playoffs will be 2/3 to 25, Game 3 to 15 -- with no caps in any games.

  • Officials are not provided, teams must supply a first referee, second referee, lines people, and scorekeeper crew

  • Event tees are provided by Fine Designs and will be available at most sites.

  • Jamba Juice will be for sale at major sites (4 courts or larger)
