INTRODUCTION
Northwest Juniors VBC fields
Elite teams (National/Travel)
which compete in USA Volleyball tournaments in the 14-Under through
18-Under age divisions. Elite teams are considered by athletes who
are looking to train and compete at the highest level in the club,
and aspire to play in college.
-
Elite Teams are travel teams that hold tryouts in
October/November for the 14 and younger teams and in November
for the 15 and older players.
-
Elite teams typically practice 8-10 times per month which
includes position specific tutoring sessions.
-
Elite team training begins in November for the U14 teams and
December for the older teams and continues through June.
There are two periods during the season where teams do not have
practice (Spring Break and after Regionals).
-
Elite teams play a Nationally Competitive Schedule which
includes the Spokane National Qualifier and one other
out-of-region National Qualifier (the second out of region
Qualifier tournament is optional for U14’s).
-
All players accepting spots on Elite teams will also compete in
either
the Junior National Championship Tournament or the Volleyball
Festival at the end of the season. Each team is given several
opportunities to qualify for the National Championship
tournament.
-
Teams will have 12-14 tournaments and between 23 and 28
tournament days throughout the season.
-
Typical Schedule includes: Puget Sound Region (PSR) Power
League, Club-hosted inter-regional tournaments during MLK
Weekend and Presidents Weekend, PSR Bid Tournament, PSR Regional
Championships, Emerald City Classic, and the travel tournaments
on the schedule.
-
Players on our U17 and U18 Elite team will also have the
opportunity to participate in an "All-star" team to the SCVA Las Vegas Invitational Tournament over President's Day
Weekend. We will conduct a tryout for all U18 and U17 players
in the club and send one team.

NW JRS ELITE VBC MISSION STATEMENT:
NW Juniors Elite VBC was founded to give
local athletes who are motivated to play
volleyball at the collegiate level an
opportunity to excel, receive advanced
training, and gain exposure for their hard
work and dedication.
We do this by providing an environment where
these motivated athletes will be exposed to
high levels of training with an emphasis on
fundamentals and sportsmanship, be given
opportunities to compete with the best teams
in the country, and offer them the tools to
be successful. Among the tools we will
provide:
-
Training in systems of play used by the
greatest teams in the world. We advocate
Gold Medal Squared system of play
and principals which are currently being
used by USA Volleyball's Women's
National Team as well as the University
of Washington.
-
Tools to promote themselves to college
recruiters
-
An understanding of the importance of
goal setting in developing the whole
athlete and belief that in order to be
successful, they must have a roadmap to
success
-
Promote leadership and teach the
importance of team unity
-
Stress the importance of personal
discipline, organizational skills, time
management, and character building

INTRODUCTION
The
Northwest Juniors
Regional Team
program is a lower cost travel program that provides strong coaching
and competition against clubs in the Puget Sound Region. All teams
travel to one out of region tournament. Regional teams may also be
ideal for athletes that have time conflicts with the longer Elite
team season.
Players must tryout to be selected for a NW Juniors Regional team,
and membership in not guaranteed as there are a limited number of
positions available at each age group (no more than two teams at any
age group in each location).
-
Regional Teams hold tryouts at the same time and location as the
Elite teams.
-
Regional teams practice 8 times per full month (4 practices in
December). Position specific tutoring sessions can be purchased
at an additional cost.
-
Regional team training begins December and continues through
Memorial Day Weekend in May. 12 and under teams’ season
concludes with the regional championships in April. There are
three periods during the season where teams have limited
practice (Winter Break, Spring Break, and after Regionals).
-
Regional teams play a regional schedule that may or may not
include the Region’s Power League. Inclusion in the Power league
is at the club’s discretion; however typically all teams play a
non-power league schedule.
-
Regional teams travel to the Yakima Jamboree as their allocated
travel tournament. In some cases the club may choose to send a
team to the Spokane Qualifier.
-
Teams will have 8-10 tournaments and between 14 and 16
tournament days throughout the season.

NW JUNIORS VBC MISSION STATEMENT:
Northwest
Juniors Volleyball Club
is committed to providing opportunities for young athletes at all levels of
development to engage in quality, competitive experiences. We are dedicated to
the idea that any player, regardless of size or skill level, who wants to
participate in the USAV Junior Volleyball Program, should be given that
opportunity.
A competitive
athletic experience can instill good work habits, enhance social development,
contribute to mental and physical health, and teach values of personal
responsibility, self-discipline, self-motivation, and teamwork. Participation in
junior volleyball also improves the athlete's opportunity to realize the goals
of:
-
Improving individual skills and ability to play and contribute as a member of a
team.
-
Earning or keeping
a position on the school varsity volleyball team.
-
Earning a college scholarship.
Each of the
above goals involves individual player growth. This includes improvement in
skill level AND in the mental outlook necessary to be a successful member of
a volleyball team. The Northwest Juniors philosophy regarding
player growth is simple; one must play to improve. |

on our assessment as to whether or not the team
can compete at a National Qualifier. An
example is the 13 Heat team in 2012, ranked #3
in the region for U13's. They placed in
the top 5 at the Spokane Qualifier and qualified
for Junior Nationals in Columbus, OH.

Local Teams:
The Northwest Juniors
Local Team
program is a lower cost NO TRAVEL program. They
are an ideal spring board for athletes that want to
go on to play in their high school teams or compete
in a more advanced travel team program as they get
older. For the U18’s they are for athletes that
still want a competitive club experience but do not
want the college exposure that the Elite travel team
provides.
-
Local Teams are “non-travel” teams with tryouts
that take place after Elite and Regional teams
have been selected. There are no cuts in the
local program, as long as we have space, players
will be accepted.
-
Local teams practice 8 times per full month (4
practices in December). Local teams run
90-minute practices on the weekdays (M-F) and 2
hour practices on Sundays.
-
Local team training begins December and
continues through April . There are two periods
during the season where teams have limited
practice (Winter Break, and Spring Break).

Local teams compete in 6 tournaments during the
club season. They DO NOT compete in the
Regional Championship tournament or Power
Leagues.
