Tournament Updates: Thank-you all who participated.  We hope you enjoyed the tournament!

Tournament Information:

Now in our 16th year, The 2012 President's Day Weekend Tournament has evolved into one of the best three-day tournament values in the Northwest.  Your entry fees are not paying for the rental of a big facility, convention center, or sport-court rentals -- we are one of the last great multi-site tournaments.  In attending the Northwest Juniors President's Day Weekend Tournament, you can expect to find quality competition for teams of all ages and skill levels.  This tournament will be held at various schools on over 24 courts in and around the South Seattle area (including Kent, Des Moines, Renton, Tukwila, Burien).  The tournament is a three-day wave progressive pool play format similar to that of a National Qualifier.

AM wave is from 8 AM - 2 PM, PM wave is from 2:30 - 8:30 PM.

This tournament provides an excellent opportunity for out of state teams to spend the three-day weekend in the great city of Seattle, playing volleyball against some of the best teams in the Northwest.   In this economy, it is also a great opportunity for U17 and U18 teams not able or unwilling to participate in the Las Vegas Invitational.   This event has been a huge success in years past and will offer great competition for all most groups at a reasonable price. With the increased popularity of the U16’s division over the past few years, this tournament will be the premier early season event for U16 teams in the Western United States.  The tournament format will be pool play on Saturday and Sunday with playoffs on Monday -- ALL TEAMS HAVE PLAYOFFS ON MONDAY.  Play should continue no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, President’s Day, so plan accordingly.

Note on seeding and divisions:

As in previous years, in the U14's and U16' age groups we will use region Power League rankings (as of the January Power League) to determine which teams will be placed in the Open and Club Divisions. Teams should register for whichever division they think their team should be placed in.  We will seed these age groups top to bottom and the top teams will be placed in the Open, the remaining teams will be placed in the Club.  Exceptions are made when 3 or more teams from the same club are entered in the same age group.  Seeding in an inexact science, and we do our best to ensure teams are placed in the appropriate division and have a great experience.

Check-in will be from 6:30 - 7:30 PM, and the coaches meeting will begin at 7:30 PM.  The Seattle Airport hotel restaurants will have specials for coaches throughout the afternoon and evening for those that want to come for an early dinner or stay for an evening drink or meal.

At Check-in: We will issue you a tournament packet with one copy of your tournament handbook and a gift packet from the Marriott.  Rosters that coaches or club directors submitted into AES will be printed out ahead of time for your to verify and sign.  We will also collect your signed "Webpoint" USAV Rosters.  We will also ask that you submit a phone number on the BOTH rosters so that our Tournament Director can contact you throughout the tournament if needed.  These rosters will be distributed as follows:

  • AES Rosters will go to the sites that you play at on Saturday -- and verified by the Officials on-site

  • Webpoint rosters will be held by the Tournament Director and turned into the Puget Sound Region office for verification after the event.

  • THESE ROSTERS MUST MATCH AND CHANGES CAN ONLY BE MADE TO THE AES ROSTER.

Please Note: All coaches are required to carry their signed players' Medical Release Forms with them at all times during the tournament. You do not need to submit these forms at Check-In.

At the Coaches Meeting: The coaches meeting will begin at 7:30 PM -- please check in on time so that we can start the coaches meeting on time.  At the coach’s meeting, we will relay any scheduling changes that would not show on the published playing schedule and review facility rules.  The coaches meeting serves as every team's first warning regarding food, drink, and tournament rules.  Rule violations at the tournament will result in an immediate penalty.
