PLEASE NOTE: ANY ENTRIES RECEIVED AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE WILL BE PROCESSED, BUT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF ENTRY -- WE DO NOT UPDATE THE TEAM LIST AFTER NOON ON FRIDAY.   TEAMS SUBMITTING ENTRIES AFTER THIS TIME WILL HAVE TO PAY A LATE FEE ON-SITE FOR REGISTERING LATE.  WE ALWAYS ENCOURAGE PRE-REGISTRATION -- THERE ARE LIMITED OPENINGS IN EACH TOURNAMENT.

  • All Events are open entry events.  You do not have to play in every event to participate.  The "Series" is a reward for those that participate in multiple events.  Every tournament has prizes for every age group and sometimes for an upper and lower division, depending on numbers of entries.  We want to prize up as many teams as possible, so even if you are new to beach, you have a chance!

  • Be sure to pick up the 2013 edition of our Series tee-shirt the first time you play!  Event shirts will not be given out at the State Games event, but all State Games participants do receive a State Games event shirt.

  • Prizes in all divisions and at all events for finalists

For 2013 we will still keep track of points/rankings for our doubles series.  We will not award a series champion, though we will still award a net system.  We will award the net system as part of our end of season raffle.  All participants will have the opportunity to earn raffle tickets. The more events you play in, the more tickets you earn.  The raffle will take place at the Beach Championships August 25th (must be present to win).  Individuals will receive raffle tickets as follows:

  • One ticket for each event you play in -- doubles or fours.

  • Two Raffle tickets for finishing first or second in the GOLD division of your age group -- doubles or fours

  • One Raffle ticket for finishing first in the SILVER division of your age group -- doubles or fours

  • One raffle ticket for being the points leader in your age group at the end of the four-tournament series.

8:15 - 8:45 AM -- Walk-up Registration to fill any openings.  First Come first Served, but never before 8:15.

Parking?  Street-side and Neighboring streets... first come first served

We go over the rules of beach volleyball and variations in place (doubles vs. fours)

We assign you to your courts by age group for your pool play matches

No guarantee that these will be your courts all day, but a good chance

Approx. 9:30-9:45 -- Morning Pool Play Begins

If this is your first tournament of the summer, we give out our free summer event tee-shirt during pool

Usually Round-robin pool play with pools of 3, 4, or 5 teams

After pool is over, you turn your pool sheet into the tournament headquarters

We ask that you verify the pool sheet before your turn it in.  Once the sheet is turned in it is official.

Your meal/breaks are built into your pool play time (just like indoors)

Once all the pools in your age group/division are completed, it takes about 15-20 minutes to seed for playoffs.  The sooner your pool gets finished, the more of a break you get :)

Playoffs Continue throughout the afternoon

First and second round playing and officiating assignments are usually given out during the pre-playoff meeting

After that matches are assigned "TBA" so you have to pay attention for your team name

Finals for larger divisions are around 6:00 PM

For the raffle, no need to collect tickets before you leave.  We enter you in the drawing and the higher you place, and the more teams in your division -- the more tickets you get in the drawing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PRIZES? Of course!  We usually give out prizes to at least 1st and 2nd place finishers.  We award merchandise and/or gift certificates from our series sponsors.  Because of amateur rules, we cannot award prizes larger in value than your entry fee.

2013 JUNIOR BEACH SERIES

AN INNOVATIVE SERIES EXCLUSIVELY FOR JUNIOR BEACH PLAYERS -- NOW IN ITS SIXTH YEAR!

WHAT IS IT?

A multiple-event series that allows junior and Collegiate players the opportunity to play beach doubles, collect prizes, and earn points.  Beach volleyball is growing in the Northwest!  Players and their parents are discovering that by playing doubles -- even without coaches -- they are showing significant improvement over the summer because of increased touches.  The side effects (a great tan) are pretty nice also!

 

 

WHEN IS IT?

All Summer!  There are FOUR events in the series.  The last event in August is not a Series event, but it will be the Pacific Northwest Beach Volleyball Championships.  We will also add various FOURS events throughout the summer.

 

POINTS:

Points will be awarded to all participants based on the place they take and the number of teams that are in their age group or division each event for events #1-4.  The individual or team that has accumulated the most points over the four event series at their age group will receive a commemorative championship shirt.  

 

RAFFLE:

At our Beach Championship Event, you will receive raffle tickets the morning of the event based on the number of Series events you have entered and how you place in each event (NEW FOR 2013 -- FOURS ARE INCLUDED)  We will raffle off various volleyball-related items throughout the day -- including an outdoor volleyball system  The more you play throughout the summer, the better chance you have to win raffle prizes at the Championships. Nothing special to do -- we enter you in the raffle and track how many tickets you have earned.  Accumulate as many raffle entries as you can during the summer and we do all the raffle give-aways at the Beach Championships. 

 

BEACH RULES These are the rules that will be in effect at every Jr. beach event.

 

 

For the 2013 Season, points we be awarded based on what place the teams finish in, regardless of the number of teams in the division.  Points are awarded equally in order to not minimize the accomplishments of champions in the smaller divisions.  There will be bonus points awarded based on playing in larger divisions, however, points by place will remain equal.  In age groups or divisions with more than 20 teams, two bonus points will be awarded to the top two teams.

 

The raffle will occur at the Beach Championship Tournament and all teams that participate in the final event will be eligible to win prizes in the raffle.  You must be present at the Beach Championships to win raffle prizes.

USAV MEMBERSHIP/AAU Membership:

All JUNIOR participants in Northwest Volleyball outdoor events (tournaments) must be USAV Members.  If you are not already a member (junior indoors) get your Outdoor Membership HERE

 

The following documents are required at check-in.  We will keep both documents on file throughout the summer, so you only need to turn them in once for NW Volleyball events.

  • PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP (Individual Membership Card): How do you get it? Go to the USAV Membership Login Page and enter your personal Username and Password.  Once you are on your personal page, look to the left column, and click "Print Membership Card" and print that page.  That is your USAV Card.  Print out an extra copy for yourself and keep it with you... just in case.

  • MEDICAL HISTORY AND RELEASE FORM: Yes, the same one you gave to your club or coach at the beginning of the season.  This is information the tournament director must collect in case you get injured at a tournament.  It helps the Tournament Director know what procedures your parents want used to treat your injuries.  It is also medical history for the doctors at the hospital... very important in case you have any allergies.

  • 20 and Under: Born on or after Sept 1, 1992

  • 18 and Under: Born on or after Sept 1, 1994

  • 16 and Under: Born on or after Sept. 1, 1996

  • 14 and Under: Born on or after Sept 1, 1998

  • 12 and Under: Born on or after Sept 1, 2000

Please note: Age definitions are different than USAV Indoor classifications

 

 

 

 

Typical Event Times: 

8:00 - 8:45 -- Check-in for pre-registered team and walk-up registration

8:45 - 9:00 -- Rules meeting, tournament rules, and pool/court assignments

BY 9:30 AM -- Pool play begins

 

TOURNAMENT POLICIES

  • Tournaments begin by 9:30 am.

  • Check-in begins at 8:00 am; you must be checked-in at the Event Site by 8:45 AM.

  • You may lose your spot in the tournament if you check-in after 8:45

  • No Refunds if you are late and we have filled your spot with a walk-up.

  • If it is raining: You must show up at the tournament, check-in, and be prepared to play.

  • We virtually never cancel an event.  If we do, it will be posted on the top of this page

  • Sand tournaments are not canceled because of rain.

  • In the highly unlikely event that we do cancel an event because of Mother Nature (usually because of lightning), credits will be given to future events.

  • If the tournament is held, and you chose not to show up you will not be given a refund.

  • The office closes at Noon on Fridays. 

  • No Entries will be accepted after NOON on Fridays.

  • You always have the option to enter On-Site at the Event.  Please be sure to show up between 8:00 and 8:30 to allow the tournament director time to add you to the draw.

  • Walk-up registration includes a $10 per team late fee.  Select tournaments have early entry deadlines to aid in logistical preparation.

  • For all events, please be sure you want to play before you enter.  There will be a $10 administrative cancellation fee up to one week before the event. There will be no refunds for cancellations within 7 days of the event.  Events can be changed one time, up to 7 days prior to the event at no charge. Within the 7 day window, there will be a $10 administrative change fee.
