Jamba Juice will have a booth set up near tournament headquarters and will be selling smoothies and other items for our last two events. With the great weather, it should be a welcomed addition to these event.

Lane Sisters Win Series in one of the closest races ever. Katrina and Kristen Lane won the Series 4 U16 Championship and earned "just enough" points to pull off the series victory and take home the Grand Prize: an outdoor volleyball net system.

AAU Junior Olympic Games in New Orleans, July 30-31 Age group champions from our June 11-12 Doubles weekend received an at-large bid to the JO Games. Participants need to secure an AAU membership ($12) to participate. TOURNAMENT TIMELINE:

8:15 - 8:45 AM -- Walk-up Registration to fill any openings. First Come first Served, but never before 8:15.

Parking? Street-side and Neighboring streets... first come first served

We keep both on file all summer, so you turn it in your first tournament. You can't play if you don't have it!

No Later than 9:15 AM -- Rules Meeting and Court Assignment

We assign you to your courts by age group for your pool play matches

No guarantee that these will be your courts all day, but a good chance

We explain how to use and fill out the pool sheet

Approx. 9:30-9:45 -- Morning Pool Play Begins

If this is your first tournament of the summer, we give out our free summer event tee-shirt during pool

Usually Round-robin pool play with pools of 3, 4, or 5 teams

After pool is over, you turn your pool sheet into the tournament headquarters

We ask that you verify the pool sheet before your turn it in. Once the sheet is turned in it is official.

Your meal/breaks are built into your pool play time (just like indoors)

Once all the pools in your age group/division are completed, it takes about 15-20 minutes to seed for playoffs. The sooner your pool gets finished, the more of a break you get :)

Lunch? Usually during your pool play breaks

Approx. 1:00 PM -- Single-Elimination Playoffs Begin

Playoffs Continue throughout the afternoon

First and second round playing and officiating assignments are usually given out during the pre-playoff meeting

After that matches are assigned "TBA" so you have to pay attention for your team name

Finals for larger divisions are around 6:00 PM

For the raffle, no need to collect tickets before you leave. We enter you in the drawing and the higher you place, and the more teams in your division -- the more tickets you get in the drawing.

PRIZES? Of course! We usually give out prizes to at least 1st and 2nd place finishers. We award merchandise and/or gift certificates from our series sponsors. Because of amateur rules, we cannot award prizes larger in value than your entry fee.

2011 JUNIOR BEACH SERIES

AN INNOVATIVE SERIES EXCLUSIVELY FOR JUNIOR BEACH PLAYERS -- NOW IN ITS FOURTH YEAR!

WHAT IS IT?

A multiple-event series that allows junior (U20) players the opportunity to play beach doubles, collect prizes, earn points, and gain free entry to the Northwest Championships at the end of the season. Beach volleyball is growing in the Northwest! Players and their parents are discovering that by playing doubles -- even without coaches :) -- they are showing significant improvement over the summer because of increased touches. The side effects (a great tan) are pretty nice also!

WHEN IS IT?

All Summer! There are FOUR events in the series. The last event in August will also be the Pacific Northwest Beach Volleyball Championships. We will also add various FOURS events throughout the summer.

POINTS & RAFFLE?

Points will be awarded to all participants based on the place they take and the number of teams that are in their age group or division each event for events #1-3. For the Junior Series, the individual that has accumulated the most points over the four event series will receive an outdoor volleyball net system!

Every Junior Beach Series participant will receive at least one raffle ticket for the drawing to be held at the Northwest Championship Tournament, the weekend of August 20th & 21st. The more teams in your division and the higher you place, the more points and raffle tickets you get. Nothing special to do -- we enter you in the raffle and track how many tickets you have earned. Accumulate as many raffle entries as you can during events 1-3 and we do all the raffle give-aways at event #4 (Beach Championships). The more raffle tickets you won over the summer, the more possibilities you have of winning prizes, there is not limit to the prizes you can win at the Raffle.

BEACH RULES These are the rules that will be in effect at every Jr. beach event.

POINTS AND RAFFLE DETAILS:

For the 2011 Season, points we be awarded based on what place the teams finish in, regardless of the number of teams in the division. Points are awarded equally in order to not minimize the accomplishments of champions in the smaller divisions. There will be bonus points awarded based on playing in larger divisions, however, points by place will remain equal. In age groups or divisions with more than 20 teams, two bonus points will be awarded to the top two teams.

Raffle Tickets will be tracked throughout the first three events. The raffle will occur at the series finale and all teams that participate in the final event will be eligible to win prizes in the raffle. You must be present at the final event to win raffle prizes.

USAV MEMBERSHIP/AAU Membership:

All JUNIOR participants in Northwest Volleyball outdoor events (tournaments) must be USAV Members. If you are not already a member (junior indoors) get your Outdoor Membership HERE

The following documents are required at check-in. We will keep both documents on file throughout the summer, so you only need to turn them in once for NW Volleyball events.

PROOF OF MEMBERSHIP (Individual Membership Card): How do you get it? Go to the USAV Membership Login Page and enter your personal Username and Password. Once you are on your personal page, look to the left column, and click "Print Membership Card" and print that page. That is your USAV Card. Print out an extra copy for yourself and keep it with you... just in case.
MEDICAL HISTORY AND RELEASE FORM: Yes, the same one you gave to your club or coach at the beginning of the season. This is information the tournament director must collect in case you get injured at a tournament. It helps the Tournament Director know what procedures your parents want used to treat your injuries. It is also medical history for the doctors at the hospital... very important in case you have any allergies.

12 and Under: Born on or after Sept 1, 1998

8:00 - 8:45 -- Check-in for pre-registered team and walk-up registration

8:45 - 9:00 -- Rules meeting, tournament rules, and pool/court assignments

BY 9:30 AM -- Pool play begins

TOURNAMENT POLICIES

· Tournaments begin by 9:30 am.

· Check-in begins at 8:00 am; you must be checked-in at the Event Site by 8:45 AM.

· You may lose your spot in the tournament if you check-in after 8:45

· No Refunds for late arrivals.

· If it is raining: You must show up at the tournament, check-in, and be prepared to play.

· We virtually never cancel an event. If we do, it will be posted on the top of this page

· Sand tournaments are not canceled because of rain.

· In the highly unlikely event that we do cancel an event because of Mother Nature, credits will be given to future events.

· If the tournament is held, and you chose not to show up you will not be given a refund.

· The office closes at 1 PM on Fridays.

· No Entries will be accepted after NOON on Fridays.

· You always have the option to enter On-Site at the Event. Please be sure to show up between 8:00 and 8:30 to allow the tournament director time to add you to the draw.

· Walk-up registration includes a $10 per team late fee. Select tournaments have early entry deadlines to aid in logistical preparation.
