NW Juniors President's Day Weekend |
Nikki Brustkern really stepped it up this weekend, showing her improvement over the last few weeks. She made her serves and even got a few aces. I think the highlight of this tournament was seeing how excited she got when she got her first stuff block. Taylor Wood also stepped it up, making her serves and being aggressive at the net. Lindsey Bogard was our "go to gal" this weekend as she stepped in and set for the majority of the weekend. Erika Clarke, even with a wrist injury after diving into the crowd for a ball, managed to lead the team to some great offensive plays with her passes from the back row as the libero. | |
| Team Yakima Junior Jamboree |
Tied for 27th in Challenge |
We used the first few games on Saturday as our warm up, then we stepped up our game against Team Yakima and against the teams played on Sunday. Taylor Wood made almost all her serves and even got a few kills this weekend. Baby Paige tore up the back row not letting anything hit the floor. Mackenzie was the main attacker other teams wanted to shut down this weekend and she wasn't about to let that happen. She scored her team points with her killer hits and her powerful serves. Erika, as usual, saved the day with her passes and playing smart on the court; going for everything. We can always count on her to pick up anything thrown at her. Nikki definitely had the drive to play this weekend. She killed it up at the net and even picked up some digs back row. Paige D., after been hit in the face with a ball that had come down from the rafters knocking her on the floor, was motivated to get some kills and not let any hits get passed her in back row. Needless to say, that fall was the one of the best falls I've ever seen in volleyball. She got compliments on it all day :). Amanda jumped in and set for a few matches and gave it her all, helping us win a few matches. Her serves were what kept the other teams on their toes though. Katie also jumped in and set, while playing both opposite and middle at times. I knew I could count on her to go in and get the job done. Lindsey was our main setter this weekend and had some tough serves and scored half our points in one game. Madison was another one of our strong front row players this weekend. She jumped in and played smart at the net and also had a lot of digs back row. Needless to say, these girls were definitely ready to fight this weekend and fight they did. All the girls are improving more and more as the days go by and it is thrilling to watch them grow with experience playing volleyball. |
