Tournament Win/Loss Record Coaches Notes
Yakima Jamboree

We came in third in our pool the first day of play in Yakima.  During our five game match that day, we were able to come back and win an important game due to tough, consistent serving by Hannah Heltman.  Today we came in second during pool play advancing us to the top bracket of playoffs at our gym.  During the exciting match we won, we focused on aggressively approaching every ball.  One of our Libero’s, Alivia Stoddard, exemplified this goal by taking charge on serve receive and defense along with jumping to attack many third balls.  We had so many individual successes, but I am most thrilled by the fact that we left the gym a better team today than we were last week.

Power League

1.                   In pool play we ended up tied for 1st place…unfortunately, after the tie breaker, we ended up third.

2.                   We won our playoff match.

3.                   One of our focuses early in the season is to serve tough and be ready for the free balls resulting from those serves.  Elizabeth Tran and Claire Holcomb helped lead to our success with their serving.

4.                   Olivia Sandquist has started as our Libero since the beginning of the season.  She is proving to be an excellent leader on and off the court.

Power League February 28

We came into and left the tournament in the exact same ranking, but much happened during that process.  We had a scary situation during one of our pool play matches.  Alyssa Weed collided with one of our team members going after a ball and injured her neck and head.  We found out later that she has a slight concussion and some muscle bruising.  This was very good news after the scary experience of watching the paramedics assess her on the court.

During tournament play we had much improved serving by the whole team.  Lily Cole in particular did a great job the entire day without missing a single serve and during one game served 14 points in a row with 5 aces.
