| NW Juniors President's Day Tournament, February 16-18, 2008 | Tie for 5th in Division 2 Bronze |
I have one word to describe 16 Blizzard during the President’s Day Tournament, FIGHTERS. We started the tournament down three players. Although we didn’t win a game we fought and worked with whom we had. Every player on Saturday willingly played anywhere that was asked of them. Then Sunday came around and we completely changed the direction of the tournament. We WON 3 matches out of 4! Both Nicole and I were very proud to see them turn it around. Here is what Coach Nicole had to say about the tournament, “What amazes me the most about our girls is how they don’t give up near the end of a match when it appears that a victory is not possible. They fight all the way through and always make our opponents earn their final point. This is a wonderful team characteristic because that drive sets them up for a strong start in their second or third games. I also love how although we didn’t have all of our girls for the tournament, those who were there were ready and willing to fill and play wherever needed and they did a great job keeping up their spirits.” We ended the tournament after the first match, but as a coach I can easily say I am very proud of all of my players. |
| Power League #3; March 1, 2008 |
6-6 |
The Power League tournament on March 1st was a good one for us. 16 Blizzard played 12 games and 6 of those 12 games we won. However the story for us is not in the wins but the losses. Of the 6 games that we lost 4 of the games we only lost by 3 or less. Another game we lost by 6 after being down by 10 and fighting back. The 6th loss just wasn't a good game for us. But I have to say this tournament was the best they've ever played together. Everyone on the team knows that we still have some improving to do, but they all learned just what they can do as a team. As a coach, this is a huge success!! All I have to say is look out because we are on our way up!!!! |
