EASTSIDE TEAM TRYOUT INFORMATION

Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club is excited to announce its tryouts for the 2006 USAV Junior Season -- Edmonds Club.  Northwest Juniors had 12 teams on the Eastside in 2005 and plans on 14 Eastside teams and 5 Edmonds teams for 2006.  We had a great year in 2005 and expect to have another great group of athletes, coaches, and parents in 2006.   Some of the best coaches in the area are on-board for our Edmonds club.  Come and be a part of the excitement at Northwest Juniors Volleyball Club!

ALL tryouts will be held in the Gym at Edmonds Community CollegeTryouts will be held for teams in the following age groups: U18, U16, U15, and U14.  The Edmonds portion of the club will not have "National" and "Regional" teams -- rather all teams will be a combination of both (see explanation below).   The age group a player plays is determined by how old you will be September 1, 2006.  Players can play UP in age group, but not down.  For more information on the USAV Age Definitions and policies: [View 2005-2006 Age Definitions] (PDF/63kb)].[See USAV Age Falsification Policy]

All participants are required to have a completed Registration Form and Release Form in order to tryout.  A parent signature is required on the Release form, no exceptions.  Pre-registration is not REQUIRED, but it is RECOMMENDED.

WHY NORTHWEST JUNIORS VOLLEYBALL CLUB?

(Our longevity speaks for itself)

Northwest JR's Volleyball Club is the oldest established Volleyball Club in the Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho). Established in 1972, NW Juniors offers programs for elite through beginning players. Managed by Northwest Volleyball, Northwest Juniors is a leader in the volleyball community -- featuring management by former Bellevue Community College Head Volleyball Coach and Puget Sound Region Junior Program Director, Tony Miranda.  We provide teams for over 150 Jr. volleyball players ranging in age from 10 to 18 years old.  Teams compete in tournaments from January through June.  For the 2006 season, we will have 5 teams that will compete at the National/Traveling level, 5 teams competing in Edmonds,  and at least 9 teams competing at the Regional level.  Many of our teams will continue on to the Volleyball Festival in Reno, or the Junior National Tournaments  (Nationals in Atlanta, GA, or the  Invitational in Minneapolis, MN).

We feel that the combination of our programs, coaching staff, administration,  systems taught, and club affiliations/sponsorships make NORTHWEST JUNIORS the premier club in the Northwest for players of all ability levels.

EDMONDS TEAMS

Although we feel that we will get very talented players on our Edmonds teams -- similar to those of our Eastside National Teams (see below) -- we feel the best way to service the needs of the athletes in this area is to provide a combination (in philosophy) of our National and Regional team concept.  Below is an explanation of the differences between the two teams.  In our Edmonds Club, we will have one U18, one U16, one U15, and two U14 teams.  Players will  compete against the top teams in the region and will have the option of competing nationally.   National tournaments that they have the option of competing in include the Las Vegas Invitational (U18's only), an out of state Qualifier (whichever Qualifier the Eastside National teams attend), and a post-season tournament (Nationals, Volleyball Festival, Chicago Tournament).  We realize that many players at this level have college playing aspirations, and/or play Varsity-level high school volleyball (U16-U18) however we feel that making these events optional will allow the teams to have some control of the costs involved in participation.  Fees for our EDMONDS program include play in 12 tournament days PLUS, Yakima Jamboree and Spokane.  Cost for our Edmonds teams is approximately $1200 in dues, plus travel expenses (and optional travel expenses).

NATIONAL TEAMS -- EASTSIDE

The most talented athletes at each age group will be a part of our National Team program.  In our National Team Program, we will have one U18, one U17, one U16, one U15, and one U14 team.    Players will  compete against the top teams in the region and nationally -- our U18's will also travel to the Las Vegas Tournament -- as well as have extra practices during crucial parts of the season (early-season and late season in preparation for the National Championships) and early-season position-specific training.  Players understand that travel to national tournaments is  included in their commitment and will require additional travel costs.  As players in our NATIONAL TEAM program, players understand that they are committing to playing in several major national contests and continuing on through the end of JUNE at either the JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT,  VOLLEYBALL FESTIVAL, or another suitable post-season championship event.  Most players at this level have college playing aspirations, and/or play Varsity-level high school volleyball (U16-U18).  Cost is higher than regional teams, though competitive with other elite clubs in the Northwest.  There are other responsibilities and policies specific to the National Team Program, these are outlined in the Player/Parent Handbook distributed prior to the Club-wide pre-season meeting.  Fees for our NATIONAL team program include play in 12 tournament days PLUS, Yakima, Spokane, an out of State Qualifier, and post-season tournament.  Cost for our National teams is approximately $1500 in dues, plus travel expenses.

REGIONAL TEAMS --  EASTSIDE

This is the largest part of our club.  Opportunities exist here for players of all levels that are developing and/or do not desire the National Team atmosphere or expense.  In our Regional Team Program, we will have one U18, one U17, four U16, one U15, one U14, one U13, and one U12 team.  Our Regional teams still compete against top teams in the region and play other teams of like skill-level, however they do not have the added expense and time commitment of inter-regional travel .  Regional teams also have a policy assuring equitable playing time for team members at tournaments, etc.  All REGIONAL teams travel to at least one out of region tournament, practice and play tournaments into June (with the exception of the U12 team, whose season ends with the Regional Championship tournament) and are given the opportunity to participate in the VOLLEYBALL FESTIVAL in Reno. Fees for our REGIONAL team program includes play in 12 tournament days INCLUDING, their travel tournament.  Cost for our Regional teams is approximately $1000 in dues, plus travel expenses.
