Our Jamba Winter League program is
an outstanding opportunity for players who are not able to participate on our
travel teams (NW Juniors Elite and NW Juniors Volleyball Club), but would like
to be a part of a competitive volleyball team. We begin taking sign-ups after
our club tryouts are completed.
To register for this
league, please complete our online
REGISTRATION FORM. This will open the registration form in a new
window, so please enable popups from this website. Note that only online
registration is available for this league; league registration includes
submission of a non-refundable $100 deposit.
Players in the 5th through 9th grades who participate in our
Jamba Juice Winter League
program will
receive individual instruction, develop their skills, and participate in
organized competition. The purpose of the league is to teach young players the
fundamental skills so they can possibly play on a travel team in the future.
The
Jamba Juice Winter League
program is an full version of our short "Fall Ball" program; it begins in
February and extends through May. This program is suitable for new
players, players that did not make a club team, and/or players that prefer not
to make the commitment to a full-season club team that travels, perhaps due to
commitment to other sports.
Sign-ups for our non-travel teams are on a first come, first served basis, but
are not accepted until December, so after club tryouts, allowing players that were not
selected for one of our club teams an equal opportunity to play in our
non-travel program. There are mandatory team
placement evaluations in mid-January and practices begin the beginning of
February.
Players in the Non-travel team program will be placed onto teams who will meet and train
twice a week and participate in friendship scrimmage tournaments organized by
the Club, usually at least once per month. Non-travel teams from other clubs may
be invited to attend, as well as there may be some travel to surrounding areas
for tournaments hosted by other local clubs, which varies from season to season.
The Youth League
has a limited capacity, therefore, a waiting list will be created once the it
has reached its maximum during the sign-up period.
Q
& A (Answering questions we have had
regarding our non-travel program):
What is
the practice commitment? Teams
practice two days per week from February through May. One practice will be on
Sunday afternoon, and the other one will be on a weeknight. We rarely practice
before 5:00 PM, so players have no problem participating in after-school
activities along with our league or our club.
How
many tournaments does the youth league participate in? Or, is it just one
tournament, and a weekly match?
They play
in 4 in-house tournaments. What that means is the teams they play are other
teams in the league and a few “invited” teams from other clubs. A tournament
time commitment is usually a Saturday or Sunday for about 8 hours. During
the tournament they can play anywhere from 4-6 matches against other teams.
The tournaments are spread over the course of the season – about one per month. The
league really focuses on training and skill development through practices; with
a few tournaments mixed in – this is what makes it vastly different (and much
better) than a typical “league”. In a typical league, teams practice for a
couple weeks, then play one match per week with very little training over the
course of the season – thus very little skill development. This is a non-travel
club program. Similar in structure to our regular club, but with no travel, and
therefore less of a time commitment and less of an expense.

2011 SEASON
EVALUATIONS SCHEDULE - |
|
MANDATORY PLAYER
EVALUATIONS
are for team placement purposes only. They will be conducted in
January.
Teams will be fielded and posted prior to the
start of practices beginning in February
A parent MUST be
present at Check-In to attend a Short Orientation Meeting.
You will
have an opportunity at the Meeting to request preferred practice times.
All Evaluations will
be in January – NOTE: We eliminated evaluations
this season. All players are to report to their first practice on
Sunday, February 13th. Look at the practice schedule below for
times and locations.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT EVALUATIONS?
Players and parents will check-in so we know you are here. The
players will be evaluated and we will try to get an idea of their level
of experience. DURING PLAYER EVALUATIONS (for the first 15-20
minutes) we will have parent orientation/Q & A in the back gym.
