Our Jamba Winter League program is
an outstanding opportunity for players who are not able to participate on our
travel teams (NW Juniors Elite and NW Juniors Volleyball Club), but would like
to be a part of a competitive volleyball team. We begin taking sign-ups after
our club tryouts are completed in three phases:
-
Phase 1: November 21-25, Jamba Fall League participants
have the first opportunity to register for the league. They
will be emailed a link to our 2012 League registration on November
21.
-
Phase 2: November 26-30, Players that tried out for NW Juniors
but were not selected for a team will have the opportunity to
register. They will be emailed a link to our 2012 League
registration on November 26.
-
Phase 3: December 1, registrations open to the general public to
fill openings in the league. We will not email out links to
our registration form, we will make it available on our home page
and on this page.
To register for this
league, please complete our online
REGISTRATION FORM. This will open the registration form in a new
window, so please enable popups from this website. Note that only online
registration is available for this league; league registration includes
submission of a non-refundable $100 deposit.
Players in the 5th through 9th grades who participate in our
Jamba Juice Winter League
program will
receive individual instruction, develop their skills, and participate in
organized competition. The purpose of the league is to teach young players the
fundamental skills so they can possibly play on a travel team in the future.
The
Jamba Juice Winter League
program is an full version of our short "Fall Ball" program; it begins in
January and extends through April. This program is suitable for new
players, players that did not make a club team, and/or players that prefer not
to make the commitment to a full-season club team that travels, perhaps due to
commitment to other sports.
Sign-ups for our non-travel teams are on a first come, first served basis. There are mandatory team
placement evaluations in late-December and practices begin the beginning of
January.
Players in the Non-travel team program will be placed onto teams who will meet and train
twice a week and participate in friendship scrimmage tournaments organized by
the Club, usually at least once per month. AAU affiliated non-travel teams from other clubs may
be invited to attend, as well as there may be some travel to surrounding areas
for tournaments hosted by other local clubs, which varies from season to season.
The Youth League
has a limited capacity, therefore, a waiting list will be created once the it
has reached its maximum during the sign-up period.
Q
& A (Answering questions we have had
regarding our non-travel program):
What is
the practice commitment? Teams
practice two days per week from January through April. One 2-hour practice will be on
Sunday (no earlier than Noon), and the other one will be a 90-minute practice on a weeknight.
Because of our gym commitments, priority gym time goes to our club teams.
League team weeknight practices can go as late as 9:30 PM; so parents need to be
aware of this and plan accordingly for their daughters practicing later on a
school night. The side benefit is that players have no problem participating in after-school
activities along with our league.
How
many tournaments does the youth league participate in? Or, is it just one
tournament, and a weekly match?
They play
in 4 in-house tournaments. What that means is the teams they play are other
teams in the league and possibly a few “invited” teams from other clubs that
have AAU memberships. A tournament
time commitment is usually a Sunday for about 6 hours. During
the tournament they can play anywhere from 3-6 matches against other teams.
The tournaments are spread over the course of the season – about one per month. The
league really focuses on training and skill development through practices; with
a few tournaments mixed in – this is what makes it vastly different (and much
better) than a typical “league”. In a typical league, teams practice for a
couple weeks at the beginning of the season, then play one match per week with very little training over the
course of the season – thus very little skill development. This is a non-travel
club program. Similar in structure to our regular club, but with no travel, and
therefore less of a time commitment and less of an expense.

SEASON
EVALUATIONS SCHEDULE - |
|
PLAYER
EVALUATIONS
are for team placement purposes only. They will be conducted in
December.
Teams will be fielded and posted prior to the
start of practices beginning in January.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT EVALUATIONS?
Players and parents will check-in so we know you are here. The
players will be evaluated and we will try to get an idea of their level
of experience. DURING PLAYER EVALUATIONS (for the first 15-20
minutes) we will have parent orientation/Q & A.

PRACTICES AND TOURNAMENTS |
|
WINTER LEAGUE
season begins Sunday, January 8th and
runs through April 29th
Teams will practice 2 days per week (including one practice on Sundays), with various scrimmage matches or
skill-specific training clinics.
PRACTICES will be held at our typical NW Juniors practice
Facilities.
The schedule depends
primarily on gym availability and the number of teams fielded. Practices
are tentatively scheduled within the hours of 5:00-9:30 PM Monday
through Fridays and Sunday afternoons. A
practice schedule will be established once number of teams is
determined and posted on this page.
Please note that practices for league are in
conjunction with the 17-team NW Juniors practice schedule and may vary
throughout the season. To see how the schedules are integrated,
print out the master schedules on the
practices page.
Players will participate in one scrimmage and four tournaments on the
weekends which are organized by the Club.
